Already Winners: Our BBC Make a Difference Awards Experience

Being chosen as finalists was an honour beyond what we could have imagined

Feeling Like Winners Already

We might not have won at the BBC Make a Difference Awards yesterday, but honestly, we already feel like winners just for being chosen as finalists! When BBC Dorset first called to tell us Elsie’s Rose had been selected, we couldn’t believe it.

An Inspiring Afternoon

It was such a lovely afternoon spent with some truly amazing people who are doing incredible things in their communities. Every story we heard reminded us why community matters so much – ordinary people seeing a need and deciding to act.

Sitting in that room, listening to finalist after finalist share their work supporting the homeless, helping elderly residents, running youth programs, and so much more, we felt incredibly humbled to be included alongside such inspiring people.

What This Recognition Means

Being finalists isn’t just about recognition for us – it’s recognition for every family we support and every person who has helped us get here. This nomination gives Elsie’s Rose a platform to reach even more families who need to know they’re not alone during their darkest hours.

When we started this charity after losing our beautiful Elsie, we never imagined moments like this. But every family we support, every financial pressure we help lift – that’s Elsie making a difference through all of you.

Our Heartfelt Thanks

A huge thank you to BBC Dorset for letting us be part of the day, and big congratulations to all the winners – so well deserved! Watching their faces light up with surprise and joy was incredibly moving.

And as always, thank you to everyone who helps Elsie make a difference. Every supporter, fundraiser, donor, and volunteer who believes in our mission – you made yesterday possible. Whether through incredible challenges like marathons, donations, or simply sharing our story, you’re all part of Elsie’s continuing legacy.

Moving Forward

Yesterday reminded us that the real victory is in every life touched, every burden lifted, every family supported. We’re already winners because of the difference we get to make together.

We’re more inspired than ever to keep going, knowing there are more families out there who need our support.

Thank you for helping Elsie make a difference. Together, we’re ensuring no family faces their darkest days alone.

With love and gratitude,
Ben and Annie Gould
