When we first announced our ambitious plan to abseil down Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower, we knew it would be an incredible test of courage, determination, and community spirit. What we didn’t expect was just how life-changing this experience would become for everyone involved.

Facing Our Fears at 170 Metres High

Fourteen brave souls stepped up to take on this extraordinary challenge for Elsie’s Rose. Standing at the edge of the Spinnaker Tower, 170 metres above Portsmouth Harbour, each participant faced their own personal mountain to climb – or in this case, to descend.

For many of our challengers, the fear of heights was very real. The weather conditions on the day added an extra layer of difficulty, with winds making the experience even more nerve-wracking than anticipated. But that’s what made this challenge so special – watching ordinary people do extraordinary things for an extraordinary cause.

More Than Just an Adrenaline Rush

What struck us most wasn’t just the courage shown by each individual, but the incredible support network that emerged throughout the day. Participants encouraged one another, shared nervous laughs at the top, and celebrated each successful descent. The atmosphere was electric with a mixture of terror, excitement, and pure determination.

Every person who took that leap of faith did so knowing they were making a real difference. They weren’t just conquering their fears – they were helping us support families during some of their most challenging moments.

An Outstanding Result

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that this incredible team effort raised over £6,000 for Elsie’s Rose. This outstanding amount will go directly towards supporting families who need it most, providing them with practical help and emotional support during difficult times.

The funds raised will help us continue Elsie’s mission of making a positive difference in people’s lives, ensuring that no family has to face their challenges alone.
