A Match to Remember: Thomas Tripp Vets XV vs Christchurch Saxons RFC

Scrum-believable Scenes

On Sunday 22nd March, players, coaches, referees, team members, and supporters came together at Chapel Gate for a rugby match to remember. Thomas Tripp Vets XV faced off against Christchurch Saxons RFC in a thrilling and action-packed game filled with passion, determination, and plenty of competitive spirit.

Both sides played exceptionally well and, despite many of the players coming out of retirement for the occasion, the Thomas Tripp Vets secured the win with a final score of:

Thomas Tripp Vets XV — 67
Christchurch Saxons RFC — 31

The afternoon was about far more than just rugby. It was a truly memorable day filled with community spirit, laughter, and support, bringing families and friends together for a fantastic cause. Events like this are a wonderful reminder of the power of community and the difference that can be made when people come together.

Fundraising days like this are vital for Elsie’s Rose. Without the generosity, support, and dedication of local communities, the work we do simply would not be possible. We would love to see more events like this in the future, helping us continue to support bereaved families in Elsie’s name.

A Remarkable Achievement

We were truly overwhelmed by the generosity and support shown at the event, which raised an incredible £10,000 for Elsie’s Rose.

This remarkable amount will make a meaningful difference to families facing some of the darkest and most difficult moments of their lives. As a direct result of this fundraising, Elsie’s Rose will be able to provide vital financial support to at least eight bereaved families.

Each family receives a food voucher and a grant payment, which can help ease the immediate pressures that often follow the loss of a child. This support may contribute towards:

Rent or mortgage payments

Utility bills

Grocery deliveries

Travel expenses

Essential supplies and medication

Funeral costs

In addition to practical and financial support, families are also able to access emotional support through counselling services.

At its heart, Elsie’s Rose exists to ensure families feel seen, supported, and cared for when they need it most. Fundraising events like this allow us to continue providing that support and reminding families that they are not alone.

A Special Thank You

We would like to extend a huge thank you to Jason Gidds and Dave Burns at The Thomas Tripp for organising and hosting such an incredible event, including a fantastic live auction and raffle.

Thanks to your generosity and the support of everyone involved, Elsie’s Rose will be able to provide vital support to at least eight bereaved families. Your kindness will make a genuine difference to families navigating unimaginable loss, and for that we are deeply grateful.

It is because of supporters like you that we are able to continue our work and be there for families when they need us most – all in the name of Elsie.

Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
